Every Father

every Father is capable of untold horror,
able to wield incredible violence
and sadly, some don't even know it.
because we live in a world that now cries,
"behold his strength, his fang and claw,
we must protect against these threats."
and for the good of the same he was called to protect,
they file away his claws, defang the sting of his bite,
and those that resist are bound.

"see here, he would keep his implements of destruction.
better the beast should be made to submit,
that we know he is harmless, peaceful.
lest needs be we take away his children."
and for the will of those that can not comprehend,
nor shoulder the weight of his title,
justified by fear alone, strip him of choice.

because peace is a choice only available to those capable of making war.
those incapable of violence, they are nothing short of harmless,
unfit for the obligations associated with the title.
obligated to both provide and protect,
he needs his strength, his claw and fang born of fury.
for he is not the only one so equipped.
he is the shield against creatures in the dark
that hide their fang, their claw, that creep and dare molest.
It is against this hidden foe that he is equipped as the beast he must engage.

they won't understand how this beast yields to the lightest touch of a child,
that every one deserves at least once in it's life to be loved by a little girl
and to teach his boys to be as beasts like he.

it is with pride that he will wear the scars earned defending this charge, but this I swear,
the Eternal Father has reserved a special hell for any that violate this sacred obligation.

Parental Control

I have always harbored mixed feelings concerning parental control. For the longest time, my argument was that education, making sure the PC was in a public place in the house, and instilling good values in users was enough. Now I understand that there is always extenuating circumstances. The problem with Internet filters and the like is that they can only be as good as the designer. I remember working on a pc that had an early version of a church sponsored Internet filter. The problem was, the little girl using the computer couldn’t get any site on bunnies to come up. You see, the filter had been programmed that bunnies (playboy bunnies) was inappropriate material.
